One common question that arises among Pardot users is how to send attachments through the platform. While Pardot doesn’t support attachments directly, it offers an efficient alternative to sharing documents, images, and other files in your email campaigns. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of sharing files via Pardot, ensuring a seamless experience for your recipients and maximizing engagement with your content.

To share documents, images and other files via email, start by selecting Content from the top level menu.

Now from the side menu select the Files option.
Uploading Files
Select the + Upload Files button or drop the file from your computer.
Leveraging Completion Actions
Once you have uploaded your file it will be available to use in your email templates. One benefit of uploading files, rather than using attachments, is that you are able to use Pardot Completion actions. This can include adding prospects who click on your file to a particular campaign or list. To create a completion action for your file, select Edit file.
Setting Completion Actions
Next add in the Completion Actions for that particular file. You can choose the specific Action from the drop down. Once you have done this click on the blue Save file button.
Selecting Pardot Email
Now add your file to your pardot email by choosing Pardot Email from the top menu.
Accessing Email Templates
Select Templates from the side menu.
Editing Email Template
Click on Edit email template to add in the file you want to send.
Adding File Link to Email
Select the Editor tab and then highlight the section of your email where you want to link a file. You can use a call to action to direct the reader to click the link and download the file.
Inserting Link in Text
Once you have highlighted the appropriate text, click on the link icon.
Choosing File from Link Menu
From the Link menu select File from the Link Type drop down. You will then be able to choose the document, image or other file you previously uploaded. Once you have selected the file click on the green OK button.
Publishing to Template
Lastly click on the green Publish to Template button.
